During quarantine, Audrey Hauck likes to ride her bike, play video games and board games, and watch a ton of movies and shows, but in the midst of all of that, what others might not know about her is her passion for photography.
“I find photography interesting because it's a way to show a different point of view through a single photo,” Hauck said. “Photography is taking what you see and finding a new, creative way of showing it.”
Hauck’s favorite photos to capture include nature because of the peaceful message that anyone would want to keep in their memory.
“It's interesting because there's so many ways of taking a photo because it's not just BOOM, tree - it's nature, a lot happens in it,” Hauck said. “I really like nature photography because it gives off a sense of calm, and there's a lot of different ways to take a nature photo, so it's not all the same and I really like that aspect of it.”
Though she edits most of her pictures using Photoshop and uses tools like the saturation feature, Hauck always keeps the original photo.
“I edit and keep the photo raw,” Hauck said. “I'm very indecisive, so I end up having like 10 photos of each. I like to capture landscape pictures because it gives a wider view.”
For Hauck, photography is a way of showing memories - the good, the bad and even the small ones - as it allows her to look back onto a photo and remember the location it was taken and how it made her feel. For her, photography is more than just the photo that can be viewed off a device or a physical copy - it’s a way to document life.
