- Spoilers for “Killing Eve” -

Returning for its third season, “Killing Eve” premieres with excitement and vigor that leaves watchers entertained and on the edge of their seats.

The drama, which stars Sandra Oh as Eve Polastri and Jodie Comer as Villanelle, picks up where it left viewers with season two’s cliffhanger of Eve wounded and alone in Rome, presumably dead. With an ending like this, the upcoming season has explaining to do.

The first episode, although the characters are living their lives separately, still brings together the anticipation of what the aftermath of Rome is like. With the threat of the Twelve still lingering, it manages to display that the show is not derailing far from the storyline that is known and loved: Villanelle’s involvement and Eve’s obsession with the organization. While it could be seen negatively that the show is remaining with the same storyline, new characters and new stakes will affect the future of the season and add another compelling layer of the twisted drama.

As Eve gets pulled back into the action so soon, the tension rises for the upcoming episodes. In season one, Villanelle and Eve were separately involved with each other, but in season two, they were a joint team, so the fate for the pair in the upcoming season is anyone’s guess. Overall, this premiere set the tone by featuring amazing performances, murder and shocking twists.
